Frank Siebenhaar is Assistant Professor and Senior Consultant at the Department of Dermatology and
Allergy, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany and is Head of Preclincal Development at
Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmakology. He is head of the outpatient clinic for
mast cell-associated diseases (MAD3) and coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Mastocytosis Center Charité
(IMC2). After completing his doctoral thesis at the Department of Dermatology, Universitätsmedizin
Mainz, Germany in 2004, Professor Siebenhaar completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Experimental
Pathology and Immunology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA, from 2007-2009. He received
the venia legendi for dermatology from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in 2014.
Professor Siebenhaar’s research focusses on the biology of mast cells and the pathophysiology of mast
cell-associated diseases; his clinical emphasis is on mastocytosis, urticaria, angioedema, chronic pruritus,
and autoinflammatory syndromes. He is Managing Director of the Urticaria Network e.V. (UNEV) and
President Elect of German Dermatology Association (ADF). He is Council member of the European Mast
cell and Basophil Research Network, past board member of the German Competence Network for
Mastocytosis and active member of the European Competence Network on Mastocytosis (ECNM), the
European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR) and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical
Immunology (EAACI).
