Sigurd Broesby-Olsen, M.D. is a Consultant Dermatologist and Head of the Department of Dermatology and Allergy Centre, Odense University Hospital, and Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark.
He leads the National Danish Mastocytosis Centre Odense University Hospital (MastOUH); a specialized multidisciplinary reference center providing care for pediatric and adult patients with mastocytosis. His scientific work focuses on anaphylaxis and other clinical aspects and comorbidities of mastocytosis, including the development and clinical use of highly sensitive KITD816V mutation analysis in peripheral blood. He has contributed to the establishment of clinical diagnostic algorithms and guidelines supporting multidisciplinary management and treatment strategies in mastocytosis. His epidemiologic research has contributed to defining incidence and prevalence and identifying associated risks, including increased skin cancer risk.
